Further to our recent news regarding PAB accreditation, AEGIS is delighted to announce that it has also been accredited by United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS) for the full range of rail sector independent assessment and certification services including EU wide Notified Body, UK Designated Body and RIS-2700-RST Rail Vehicle Verification Body, this adding to the existing accreditations as an Assessment Body under Common Safety Methods for Risk Evaluation and Assessment (CSM-RA) and a RIS-1710-PLT Plant Assessment Body.
Following a rigorous scrutiny of processes and staff competence across a wide range of railway engineering disciplines including infrastructure, energy, signalling and rolling stock, AEGIS Certification Services (ACS) Ltd has been granted accreditation by UKAS to undertake work in accordance with BS EN ISO 17065: 2012 Conformity Assessment – Requirements for bodies certifying products, processes and services. In addition the assessment and ultimate certification includes the scope of RIS-2700-RST for the Verification of Conformity of Engineering Change to Rail Vehicles.
Subsequent to the UKAS accreditation, AEGIS Certification Services Limited has this week been formally appointed by the DfT under Regulation 31 of the Railways (Interoperability) Regulations 2011 thus enabling ACS to undertake Notified Body (NoBo), Designated Body (DeBo) and RIS-2700-RST Verification Body accredited work. AEGIS Engineering Systems (AES) Limited is already accredited by UKAS as an Assessment Body (AsBo) in accordance with BS EN ISO 17020.
This is excellent news for AEGIS and these latest accreditations mean that AEGIS is now able to offer its clients a complete independent assessment and certification service, with the scope of accreditation including all interoperability constituents and sub-systems. This will complement the existing, but fully independent, engineering services such as Common Safety Methods for Risk Evaluation and Assessment (CSM-RA) management, assurance management, systems engineering and training offered by AEGIS Engineering Systems.
“We are delighted to have achieved this accreditation from UKAS”, said AEGIS Managing Director Mark McCool. “It is a natural stepping stone in the progression and growth of the AEGIS brand and will allow us to offer the complete one stop shop solution to our valued clients.”
Phil Court, AEGIS Certification Services Director commented, “The UKAS assessment process was very intensive and it’s a credit to all involved that we were able to demonstrate the robustness of process and depth of competence demanded by UKAS. I would like to thank all of my colleagues who were involved in the process for their hard work over the past few months.”
